DAY 1
11:30-12:00: Pass by the mid-way service area of the S21 Highway (e.g., the “139-kilometer Service Area”), take a short break, and have lunch.
12:30-16:30: Continue driving. Along the way, you can make short stops at safe parking spots (e.g., the “Desert Scenic Viewing Platform”) to take photos of the vast and boundless scenery where the desert and the highway interweave.
17:00-18:00: Arrive at Burjin County and check in at the hotel.
18:30-20:00: Head to the “River Embankment Night Market” in Burjin to taste northern Xinjiang’s specialty foods — grilled cold-water fish (such as pike and perch), grilled mutton skewers, and kvass. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this small town.
After 20:30: Return to the hotel to rest and pack your luggage for the trip to Kanas the next day.
DAY 2
Burjin → Kanas → Hemu → Stay in a Wooden Cabin in Hemu Scenic Area
07:30-08:00: After breakfast at the hotel in Burjin, set off and drive towards Kanas along “Provincial Highway 232”.
10:00-10:30: Arrive at the entrance of Kanas Scenic Area and transfer to the scenic area’s shuttle bus.
11:30-13:00: Have a brief tour of the core area of Kanas — walk to the “Kanas Lake Dock” to enjoy a distant view of the lake, or take a 1-2 kilometer walk along the wooden boardwalk by the lake to experience the clarity and tranquility of this “Pearl of Northern Xinjiang”.
13:30-15:30: Transfer from Kanas Scenic Area to Hemu Scenic Area by shuttle bus. After arriving at Hemu Tourist Center, transfer again to the in-village shuttle bus to reach the core area of Hemu Village.
16:00-18:30: Wander around Hemu Village — visit the “Hemu Bridge”, walk through the village alleys under the “Haden Viewing Platform”, and in the evening, you can take photos of the “Hemu Sunset” at the village entrance.
19:00-20:30: Have dinner at a restaurant near the wooden cabins in Hemu. It is recommended to try hand-held mutton and stir-fried wild mushrooms. Some wooden cabins offer “earth hot pot”, which is suitable for sharing among a group of people.
After 21:00: Check in at the wooden cabin in Hemu Scenic Area. You can experience the starry sky outside the cabin.
DAY 3
06:30-07:00: Get up early (sunrise is around 6:00 in summer), take the in-village shuttle bus to Haden Viewing Platform in Hemu, and take panoramic photos of the morning mist.
08:30-09:30: Return to Hemu Village and have breakfast at the restaurant in the wooden cabin.
10:00-11:00: Pack your luggage, take the shuttle bus from Hemu Scenic Area back to the entrance of Kanas Scenic Area, and then drive or take a chartered car towards Burjin.
12:30-13:00: Pass by “Chonghu’er Town” and have lunch there.
13:30-16:30: Continue driving to Wucai Beach.
17:00-19:00: Tour Wucai Beach — focus on the scene of “a river separating two banks, with different sceneries on each bank”: the south bank is covered with lush populus euphratica forests, while the north bank features “colorful yardang landforms” of Danxia landform.

13:00-15:30: Tour the Wuerhe Wind-Eroded Devil’s City — listen to the “wind-erosion sound”, admire the “castle-shaped and column-shaped” yardang landforms, and take photos of the vast and desolate scenery of “gobi and yardangs”.
16:00-20:30: Depart from the Devil’s City and drive towards Kuitun along “National Highway 217”.
21:00-21:30: Arrive in Kuitun City and check in at the hotel.

DAY 5
08:00-08:30: After breakfast at the hotel in Kuitun, set off and drive towards Sayram Lake along the “Lianyungang-Khorgos Expressway”.
11:30-12:00: Arrive at the East Gate of Sayram Lake Scenic Area, complete the entry procedures, and start the lake-circling tour.
12:00-14:30: Tour the core section of the Sayram Lake circumferential route —
From the East Gate to Dianjiangtai: Take photos of the “lake and snow-capped mountains” in the same frame (Sayram Lake is known as “the last tear of the Atlantic Ocean”, with crystal-clear blue water and snow-capped mountains in the background);
Swan Water Bay: If the season is right (April-May in spring, September-October in autumn), you can see wild swans inhabiting here;
Have lunch at the “RV Camp Restaurant” by the lake or in a “herdsman’s yurt” (it is recommended to try “Sayram Lake Coregonus peled”, mainly steamed, or you can bring your own light meals).
15:00-16:00: Drive out from the West Gate of Sayram Lake and pass by the Guozigou Bridge.

Nomad’s Home: Go deep into the hinterland of the grassland. You can optionally experience “horse riding” or “taking a Lele cart”, or take a walk on the grassland to see cattle, sheep, and yurts up close;
In the evening, you can take photos of the grassland sunset at the “Kazakh First Village”.
18:00-19:00: Take the shuttle bus out of the scenic area and go to Nalati Town to check in at the hotel.

Nalati → Northern Section of Duku Highway → Dushanzi Grand Canyon → Stay in Urumqi
07:30-08:00: After breakfast in Nalati Town, set off and drive towards Dushanzi along the “Northern Section of Duku Highway”.
09:00-12:30: Tour the scenic spots along the Northern Section of Duku Highway — make stops at the “Qiaerma Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery” and “Hashigten Daban” along the way, staying for 20-30 minutes at each stop to experience the unique feature of Duku Highway: “four seasons in one day, different sceneries every ten miles”.
13:00-13:30: Pass by “Dushanzi District” and have lunch in the urban area (it is recommended to try “Dushanzi cold noodles” and “roast meat” as light meals).
